How do you soundproof a window?

Noise is a constant in most cities, but it doesn't have to be in your home. While you might be tempted by inexpensive DIY fixes or consider a costly window replacement, there's a better way to achieve peace and quiet: CitiQuiet soundproof window inserts.

DIY vs. Window Replacement

Many people try DIY soundproofing solutions, but these are rarely effective against the constant din of city traffic, sirens, and airplanes. You could also opt to replace your windows entirely, which can be effective but is expensive, disruptive, and often not an option if you live in an apartment.

Why SoundproofUSA and CitiQuiet?

Developed in NYC to combat the city's unique noise challenges, CitiQuiet soundproof window inserts work with your existing windows. This means you can effectively soundproof your home or office without the expense and hassle of a full window replacement.

Our inserts are installed over your current windows, reducing outside noise by up to 95%. They maintain the original look of your windows and are fully functional and removable. Because our inserts don’t alter the exterior of your building, they are a great option for apartments, which typically have strict rules about exterior changes.

Stop letting city noise disturb your peace. CitiQuiet soundproof windows are the solution that delivers exceptional results without the usual disruption and cost.

Can you soundproof an existing window?

Yes, you can soundproof an existing window. While DIY fixes like heavy curtains may offer a slight improvement, they aren't effective against the significant noise pollution of a city.

A much better solution is CitiQuiet soundproof window inserts. Our custom inserts fit inside your existing window, creating an extra layer that can reduce outdoor noise by up to 95%. They work with any window style, are fully functional, and are removable. Plus, since they don’t change the look of your windows and don’t require building permission, they are perfect for apartments and co-ops.

In addition to noise reduction, CitiQuiet window inserts also offer two other key benefits:

  • Improved Air Quality and Cleanliness: Our inserts reduce drafts and block up to 99% of outside dirt and dust, keeping your home cleaner and your indoor air healthier.

  • Energy Savings: By adding an extra layer of insulation, CitiQuiet windows help keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. This reduces the strain on your heating and cooling systems, saving you money on energy bills.

How much noise can be reduced using CitiQuiet Soundproof Windows?

SoundproofUSA and CitiQuiet offers a variety of soundproofing levels ranging from 50% percent to virtual silence but, with all of our noise elimination windows, we guarantee 100% satisfaction. These noise reductions can help eliminate the sounds of construction, car alarms, sirens, and many other distracting sounds.

What type of glass is used in CitiQuiet Soundproof Windows?

All of our products are built with laminated glass which has a thin layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) sandwiched between two panes of glass to form the outer pane. PVB provides excellent acoustic performance by dampening soundwaves. The most commonly used glass thickness used is 3/8″ laminated or 1/2″ laminated glass.

How much do Soundproof Windows cost?

Cost depends on many factors. When you contact SoundproofUSA our experienced team will work with you to find a solution that works for your needs and your budget.

Criteria that affect soundproof window cost include, but are not limited to:

  • Window style
  • Size of window and frames
  • Amount of Windows
  • Type of glass

Our Soundproof Windows are a smart long-term investment and cost less than you think! Not only do they reduce noise in your home or office, but they add value to your property, provide insulation and increase the energy efficiency of your home or office’s heating and cooling systems.
